Provide technical leadership to the software development effort in addition to playing the role of a software developer. Responsible for the architecture and design of the solution and be a technical mentor to the other software developers in the team. Provide inputs to the project manager and help in work breakdown, prioritization and allocation. In most cases also play the role of an analyst that includes interacting with the customer to understand requirements and proposing the detail functionality of the solution. Software development includes functional analysis, software design, programming, debugging, testing and documentation. Other job functions include researching technical solutions and industry best practices; working with other engineers and managers to design highest quality product; resolving technical problems; providing leadership to engineering team on specific software technologies; interacting with clients in cooperative development situations, technology transfer and training.
